This renovation completely reimagined a 1970s two-story single-family home in Western Branch, transforming a 900-square-foot space that had been gutted and prepped with steel columns following major water damage. The goal was to create a home that feels organized, functional, and thoughtfully designed, making every square foot count.

Starting from the ground up, Tony addressed structural challenges, leveling uneven concrete and installing a new subfloor while insulating all walls, floors, and ceilings for comfort and efficiency. The resulting layout includes a kitchenette, dining and living areas, a large utility and storage closet, a laundry room, a small guest bedroom with a custom closet, a Jack-and-Jill bathroom, and a spacious master suite with built-in closets.

The Challenge

The challenge was transforming a severely water-damaged, gutted 1970s home into a safe, efficient, and comfortable living space while working within a tight 900-square-foot footprint and resolving major structural issues.

Every design decision had to maximize functionality, storage, and flow without sacrificing warmth or aesthetics, ultimately creating a home that feels open, intentional, and tailored to the homeowners’ lifestyle.

Thoughtful details throughout the space make it as practical as it is beautiful. A dedicated desk nook was preserved and refined, creating a functional workspace that still feels connected to the heart of the home. Storage was enhanced with an expanded pantry and clean, modern floating shelves that add warmth and character without visual clutter.

The result is a kitchen that feels open, intentional, and tailored to the homeowners’ lifestyle—an effortless blend of form, function, and craftsmanship that turns the home into a true gathering place.
