1960s Ranch House
Lake Smith Terrace
This project was a complete reimagining of the home, taken down to the studs and rebuilt with intention. The goal was to create a more open, connected layout—without losing the warmth and definition of individual spaces.
By opening the kitchen and dining room into one shared space and introducing a wide, thoughtfully placed opening between the dining and living areas, the home now feels expansive and light-filled while still maintaining a sense of structure. The kitchen gained valuable wall space for a cleaner, more functional layout, and storage was dramatically improved with a beautifully integrated pantry solution designed to feel both seamless and substantial.
Throughout the home, custom details elevate the design and add character. New windows and doors bring in natural light and strengthen the connection to the outdoors, while a refreshed fireplace mantel becomes a subtle focal point in the living area. In the dining room, classic wainscoting defines the space and adds timeless architectural interest.
The Challenge
The original 1960s ranch layout was chopped up and inefficient, with too many walls and doors separating key living spaces, limiting light, flow, and usable wall space—especially in the kitchen.
Storage was poorly placed, and the home lacked defined yet connected gathering areas. Overall, the house felt closed-in, dated, and didn’t support modern, open living or cohesive design.
The Result
The transformation is anchored by handcrafted elements, including a custom farmhouse dining table built specifically for the space—an inviting centerpiece designed for gathering, everyday living, and lasting memories.
The end result is a home that feels open yet grounded, modern yet warm—thoughtfully redesigned to support how the homeowners truly live.
