1980s Two-story Single-family House
Kempsville
This project transformed an outdated Jack-and-Jill bathroom into two distinct, thoughtfully designed spaces that better serve the home and its occupants. What was once a shared, compartmentalized layout was reimagined to feel more spacious, private, and intuitive.
By reworking the footprint and redefining how the rooms connect, each bathroom now feels intentional and comfortable rather than cramped or transitional. Improved flow and clearer separation create a more elevated, primary-bath experience while still maximizing the home’s existing square footage.
The Challenge
The Jack-and-Jill bathroom layout was inefficient and awkward, with shared spaces, unnecessary doors, and a cramped tub and toilet area that limited privacy and made the bathroom feel smaller than it was.
In addition, hidden water damage and an outdated tub compromised both function and longevity, requiring a reconfiguration to create fully separated, more spacious, and durable bathrooms.
The Result
Beyond aesthetics, the renovation addressed underlying issues and upgraded the bathrooms with durable, modern finishes designed to stand the test of time. Floor-to-ceiling tile surrounds add a clean, cohesive look while enhancing both function and longevity.
The result is a pair of bathrooms that feel refreshed, refined, and far more livable—proof that smart reconfiguration can dramatically improve both daily use and overall value of a home.
